About EOS PDF Print E-mail

EOS, Inc.was founded in 1986 and is currently based in Trussville, Alabama.

We began when our founder and president, Keith M. Raney, was a resident Construction Management Field Engineer for Hammermill Paper Company in Selma, Alabama. His work there began with Hoff and Associates of Birmingham, a Material Handling & Industrial Plant consulting company that designed the Waste Fuel Handling System for Hammermill's Bark Boiler. Near the end of this assignment, Raney was invited to join the mill's construction management startup team. He accepted and remained on site through startup of the paper machine in early 1987. His electrical engineering work there covered a wide range of services including:

  • Rebuild of controls and instrument systems for the existing Bark and Power Boilers
  • Monitoring the progress of construction for the new Bark Boiler
  • Planning and implementing the startup testing of controls and instruments for Hammermill's #15 Paper Machine.

After completing the Hammermill project, EOS moved to Birmingham and began consulting contracts with Material Handling System manufacturers, primarily designing woodyard controls. Since that time we have completed over 50 woodyard related projects, including complete electrical distribution design, control system design, programming and startups.

In recent years, our work has expanded to include work for capital equipment manufacturers in various industrial processes from Air Emission Control Systems to Burner Management Systems. These areas relate back to Raney's experience learning electrical engineering in the foundries around Birmingham with U. S. Pipe and Foundry in the early 1970's.

In 1991, EOS started in-house assembly and integration of control systems for our customers in conjunction with our engineering, programming and software development services. Development of these integration capabilities lead to expansion of our controls design into other material handling and industrial applications.

During 1997, we completed our first Co-Generation project for a boiler manufacturer featuring a 600-kW induction motor generator. Our all-electronic control system featured the turbine controls, generator protection and custom protective relaying mandated by the local utility company.

Fortunately, we have had the opportunity to apply our engineering expertise to many new applications each year. The 300 - 400 projects we've completed have provided the invaluable education necessary to refine and adapt our services to new situations. We would enjoy the opportunity to assist you with planning for the demands of your application.

At EOS, we work hard to continue long term relationships with our clients. If we may be of service, please call on us.
